Canadian Legislative Politics (Policy Agendas Data

Oral Questions: This dataset includes a content anlaysis of all oral questions in the Canadian House of Commons, from 1982 to 2004. All questions are coded using a Policy Agendas coding scheme (by Frank Baumgartner and Bryan Jones), slightly adjusted for the Canadian case. That coding scheme is described in detail in the codebook below.

Government Bills: This dataset covers all Government Bills from 1968 to 2004 (the 28th to 27th Parliments). As above, bills are coded using the a Policy Agendas coding scheme (by Frank Baumgartner and Bryan Jones), slightly adjusted for the Canadian case.

Most Important Problem: This dataset includes aggregate results from the 'Most Important Problem' question, asked in quarterly Environcis Focus Canada surveys. Results are included for the entire sample, and by partisanship. These data were used in Soroka, Penner and Blidook, “Legislative Priorities and Public Opinion: The Representation of Partisan Agendas in the Canadian House of Commons.” The raw data are available through the Canadian Opinion Research Archive.
